hykc uses Italian waxed pull-up leather. Its defining trait is that it gradually develops a unique sheen and texture the more it's used.
What Is Waxed Leather?
Waxed leather is tanned with added oils and wax, giving it a natural sheen and layered colour depth. When pressed or folded, the wax distribution shifts, creating lighter and darker areas — a characteristic of the material, not a flaw.
With regular use, the surface gradually develops a warm sheen and creases unique to its owner — a process we call “blooming”. Every hykc piece lives and changes alongside its owner.

How to Care for Waxed Leather
- Avoid Prolonged Sun Exposure
- UV light speeds up fading and cracking. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct, prolonged sunlight.
- Air-Dry if It Gets Wet
- If it gets wet, blot gently with a dry cloth and let it air-dry in a ventilated spot — avoid direct heat like a hairdryer.
- Wipe Down Regularly
- Dust with a clean soft cloth. For extra shine, a small amount of neutral leather conditioner applied thinly works well.

- Waxed leather develops a unique sheen and texture with use — these changes are the leather “blooming”, not flaws.
